Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of FCC - Milton-Freewater based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
Jesus Is Lord
We believe that Jesus Christ, though fully God, became a man for the suffering of death. We believe that He is the promised Messiah, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the Cross, was bodily resurrected, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us. After Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers today.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit who indwells, seals, and empowers every believer, baptizing them into the Body of Christ. We further believe that the Holy Spirit will come upon any believer who asks in faith, enabling him/her to preach the Gospel in power. We believe that love is more important than all the gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless.
The Trinity
We believe though difficult for the human mind to fully comprehend, our God expresses himself in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in one personal, transcendent, Triune God, the creator of all, who is eternal, and who manifests Himself in three separate persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Supremacy of Scripture
We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture: That the Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and the infallible Word of God, a complete and final written revelation of God. We look to the Word of God for the basis of all our faith and practice. We are a people of the Bible—the Old and New Testaments, supernaturally inspired, preserved across time, cultures, and continents, delivered to us, useful for reproof and instruction, for righteousness. The Scripture is our backstop, the ultimate field of inquiry and judgment, the measure of conduct, faith, and practice. Whatever the question, whatever the test, whatever comes before us, in the end, it is the Scripture, above all other disciplines, that informs and defines us.
Sin
We believe that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God.
Fellowship
We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s agape love, which is greater than any difference we possess. We believe that fellowship is the basis for authenticity. It is through fellowship that we discover that we are not alone, that others have problems and brokenness just like us. We strive to create a safe community that is conducive for healing and fellowship to happen.
Personal Growth
We believe worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped. We seek to teach the Word of God in such a way that its message can be applied to an individual’s life, leading that person to greater maturity in Christ. Our desire is for everyone to grow and to go into their homes, their places of employment, and their communities and share the Gospel, make disciples, and be change agents for God’s kingdom.
Worship
We believe worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, music is an important part of our worship. Our worship is blended. That means we worship God in Spirit and in Truth through contemporary songs as well as the old hymns that are rich in theology. We believe that worship is not just something we do on Sunday, but it is a way of life.
Great Commission
We believe we are to go, to make disciples in homes, in our places of employment, and in our community. We do this not only by sharing the Gospel and the love of God, but by living out what we say we believe through example, and through serving others. We believe that evangelizing is not cookie cutter, but must be infused by the Holy Spirit for it to have a lasting effect.
End Times
We believe our Lord is coming soon and our desire is to help our community to know Jesus and to be ready for the imminent return of Jesus Christ. It is clear to us that our country and the rest of world is crumbling, falling away from God, and needs much prayer. Our heart is for you to join us in fighting this battle.
